Unhynged Cadeau Trots a Career-Best Mile at The Red Mile!
LEXINGTON, Ky. (October 8, 2026) — Unhynged Cadeau stepped up against a tough group of 3-year-old trotters at The Red Mile and finished third in 1:53.0, the fastest mile of her career, with a last quarter of 28.2 that matched the best in the race.
Driver Wyatt Avenatti left from post 2 and had the Southwind Chrome filly third, a length and a half behind Gabes Luck, at the first quarter (28.0). She dropped to fourth, four lengths off the pace, at the half (55.0), then was parked out in fourth at the three-quarters (1:23.4), still four lengths back. Turning for home she was fourth, 3½ lengths behind, and then she came home in 28.2, tied with An Honest Buck for the fastest final quarter in the field. That was enough to pass two horses and finish three-quarters of a length behind the winner.
Special Moni, the 0.96-1 favorite driven by Andrew McCarthy, came from the outside to take the lead at the half and won in 1:52.4, a half-length ahead of Julie Palema (Andy Miller). A $2 win bet on the winner returned $3.92. Cadeau, an 11.73-1 shot, returned $3.22 to show on a $2 bet. An Honest Buck was fourth, followed by Gabes Luck and Burningforyourlove.
Cadeau earned $1,440, 12 percent of the $12,000 purse for third. She is owned, bred and trained by Ivar Hyngstrom, by Southwind Chrome out of Shadow Copy (by Cassis).
